What is an Alliance Française?
Each Alliance Française is an independent, non-profit association governed by local legislation. The institutions are independent of any political or religious affiliation and carry out their activities autonomously, adapting them to the needs of their local communities, while being part of a shared international network.
Our mission
Alliance Française institutions have three core missions:
- French language teaching for all ages, from early childhood onwards.
- Promoting, raising awareness of and administering the internationally recognised DELF and DALF French language examinations.
- Introducing people to French and Francophone cultures, while promoting cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue.
The Alliance Française aims to create open, diverse and international communities through the French language, where language learning and cultural experiences are closely connected.
Alliance Française in Hungary
In Hungary, the associations are present in five locations: Debrecen, Győr/Pannonhalma, Miskolc, Pécs and Szeged.
In addition to general and professional French language courses, the Alliances Françaises offer French language training from early childhood onwards, according to individual needs.
All five Alliances Françaises are official DELF/DALF examination centres, providing French learners with the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognised language certificate.
Alliance Française centers also have French-language media libraries and offer cultural programs throughout the year, with major highlights such as Francophonie Month in March.
WHY CHOOSE US ?
Because learning French takes place in a friendly and motivating environment, with qualified teachers and courses adapted to all levels. The institutions offer preparation for the DELF and DALF exams, and also make it possible to discover French culture through cultural programs.
Dr Czellár Judit
When entering an unfamiliar place where one has never been before, it is rare to feel immediately at ease. The teachers and students present welcomed me as if we had known each other for a long time: with smiles, humour, and simplicity, which immediately eased my initial tension in the face of the unknown.

EXAMS
DELF / DALF language exams
In the 5 Alliances Françaises of Hungary, it is possible to take the DELF (A1, A2, B1, B2) and DALF (C1, C2) language exams. These monolingual French exams are aligned with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are officially recognized in Hungary as well as worldwide. Each exam consists of four parts, which assess the following language skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing skills, and speaking skills.
To pass the exam, candidates must obtain at least 50 points out of 100 in total, as well as a minimum of 5 points out of 25 in each section. Our courses provide targeted preparation for the DELF and DALF exams. Detailed official information about the exams is available on the website below:
